The staircase question is the one that matters most. Older Lockport homes frequently have a tight turn at the landing with a low ceiling above it, and a queen box spring or a large armoire will not go around it no matter how skilled the crew is. Away from the historic core, the newer Lockport subdivisions on the bluff move like any other suburb, and none of the above applies. Lockport is roughly twelve minutes from our Joliet base.
Older Lockport homes are usually smaller in square footage but slower per item, so the hours land closer to a larger suburban house than the size suggests. A two or three bedroom in the historic district commonly runs seven to nine hours for three movers.
Street parking downtown is often time-limited, and enforcement is real. If your move will take most of a day on a metered or restricted block, ask the city about a temporary accommodation rather than hoping. A ticket in the middle of a move is an avoidable annoyance.
